Our Story:From the Olympic Peninsulato Washington's Cannabis Industry
A love story. A medical need. A decade of growing something worth smoking.
Founders' Story
2009 – Present · Olympic Peninsula, WA
Bethany was born in Oklahoma to entrepreneurial parents who showed her the true ins and outs of business ownership. She started working full-time for one of her parent's companies at age 15 and, being a D.A.R.E. kid, she didn't have any experience with cannabis until Justin handed her a joint. Justin was born and raised on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. From true Pacific Northwest stock, his great-great grandfather was John Huelsdonk, known as The Iron Man of the Hoh. Justin is a Native American and a proud member of the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Indians.
Bethany and Justin both loved being in nature and learning about raptors and animal husbandry. They were introduced to falconry separately, across the country from one another, by reading the same book: My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George. Eventually, Bethany flew out to Whidbey Island in Washington State to meet a world-class falcon trainer who just so happened to be Justin's mentor. Meanwhile, Justin was being told by that same mentor that he just had to meet this falconry gal from the south. A mere six months later, Bethany and Justin Rondeaux were married. You could say it was love at first flight.
The young couple moved to Oregon to attend college in 2009 in their Airstream travel trailer. It was during that time that Bethany first began experiencing painful and debilitating cluster migraines. After a few months of traditional treatments of pills had not helped, she found relief in cannabis if she timed her consumption right on the onset of a migraine. That discovery changed everything. Bethany and Justin began growing medical cannabis, their first little grow setup being in the closet of their Airstream with a 400w light. They spent countless hours selecting and developing strains specifically aimed at treating her migraines. Justin, who had always loved cannabis for everything it offered, he found himself equally inspired by watching it genuinely improve Bethany's quality of life. Together they made it their mission to develop medicinal cannabis products for the people who needed them most.
The Rondeauxs spent years learning the craft of organic cannabis cultivation while building personal connections that gave them access to some of the finest genetics in the world. In November of 2011, after becoming comfortable with full-time farming of top-end cannabis, Bethany and Justin opened a 69.51A RCW compliant medical cannabis delivery service called Olympic Sinsemilla, serving patients living on the Olympic Peninsula. In the fall of 2012 they became Master Falconers, a milestone that allowed them to begin their long-held dream of building a raptor rehabilitation and breeding program in Port Angeles.
Knowing that Washington State's new recreational cannabis laws would end their ability to serve medical patients, Bethany and Justin acquired an I-502 Producer/Processor license and founded their recreational operation in November of 2014, carrying forward the same strains and standard of quality their patients had depended on for years.
Over the years, Falcanna has grown into a staple on retail shelves across Washington State, and the support of customers and retailers alike has made the raptor rehabilitation and conservation a reality. After more than a decade and a half of building something from the ground up, the Rondeauxs are just getting started. Falcanna remains fully independent, founder-owned, and driven by the same two people who fell in love over falconry and built a brand the Pacific Northwest can be proud of. This is not just a business. It is their life's work, and every product on the shelf reflects that.
